Trinity Place Shelter residents are excited to be participating in today's NYC Pride March/Parade by marching with our awesome collaborator & friends at the NYLAG LGBT Law Project (http://www.nylag.org/lgbt) who provide free legal services to our own shelter residents and other low-income LGBTQ New Yorkers!

This spring a rising trend of hate crimes toward the LGBTQ Community in NYC has led to an atmosphere of fear in our neighborhoods. Given the fact that most of the homophobic rhetoric in our country comes from faith communities (or justifies itself through the faith lens) it becomes particularly important that open and affirming communities of faith stand up and be counted. To our staff, our board of directors, our funders, our volunteers, supporters and donors...because of YOU...and ONLY because of you...we are still here. To each of you, EACH of you...our deepest, most awe-love-filled gratitude, now & always.

Are you interested in volunteering at Trinity Place Shelter?

There are 2 ways that TPS relies of the effort and dedication of our volunteers:

Overnight Monitor:
On Saturday evenings to Sunday morning (when our usual staff is off). Note: this does not require you to stay awake all night. Our next volunteer orientation training is scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd. (This is mandatory prior to becoming an Overnight Monitor).

Dinner Donor:
Each Wednesday, volunteers bring in dinner for our 10 young residents. The meal can be home cooked, store bought, or even take out. You can choose to drop off the meal, or stay for a while to chat. You're welcome to bring a friend or two for this as well.

If you are interested in either of the above opportunities, please contact me. We would love to have your help!!
